Outstanding farmers and fisherfolks awarded

The Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) has once
again awarded and recognized the winners of the Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon during the
awarding ceremony held at the 4 th Floor, Ceremonial Hall, New Capitol Building, Cogon, Tagbilaran City last
Thursday.
Provincial Legal Office Atty. Nilo Ahalat for and in behalf of Gov. Art C. Yap and Board Member Aldner
Damalerio in lieu of Vice Gov. Rene L. Relampagos led in the giving of awards to the 25 winners and their
respective assisting technicians assisted by Board Member Lucille Lagunay; Dr. Regucivilla A. Pobar, President,
Bohol Island State University (BISU) Systems; and Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas.
The winners of the different categories together with their assisting technicians and their corresponding prizes
were the following: Tultugan Organic Farmers Association of Tultugan, Calape as Outstanding Organic Agriculture
Practitioner who received P15,000 and plaque and assisting technician Jason M. Villas who also received P3,000
and certificate of recognition; Amelia O. Virtudazo (Malbog, Jagna) Outstanding Organic Agriculture Technician

plus plaques) and assisting technician Niecille C.Manigo (P3,000 plus certificate of recognition); and VJ G.Mendez
(Bayongan, San Miguel) – Outstanding Coconut Farmer (P5,000 plus plaques) and assisting technician Jessielen
Pacomios (P3,000 plus certificate of recognition).
In their messages of support, Atty. Ahat, BM Damalerio articulated the programs and projects of the provincial
government geared towards the development of agriculture in Bohol.
They congratulated the winners as they asked them to continue support the quests of the provincial government.
On her part, Dr. Pobar lauded the programs and projects of the provincial government towards agriculture
wherein some of those who are working in agriculture offices in Bohol were alumni of BISU.
Pobar said that BISU has always supporting and cooperation the PGBh.

The BISU System president and Atty. Ahat in behalf of Gov. Yap inked the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)

anon 2021 during the recognition and awarding ceremony to be held on Thursday, 10am at the 4 th Floor,
New Capitol Building, Cogon, Tagbilaran City.
Some 25 farmers and fisherfolks who have excelled in their respective field will receive their cash
prizes and plaques of recognition for the different categories of the tilt.
Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas said that SUHID is the annual activity of the
PGBh aims to award and recognize the agri-fishery sectors who have exemplary performance which the
provincial government considered them as models in the province for other Boholanos to emulate.
The outstanding farmers/fisherfolks and associations which come from 15 municipalities are the
following: Tultugan Organic Farmers Association of Tultugan, Calape as Outstanding Organic
Agriculture Practitioners (Association) that will receive P15,000 and plaques; Amelia O. Virtudazo
(Malbog, Jagna) – Outstanding Organic Agriculture Technician (P5,000 plus plaques); Gemma Deloso

The emerged winners of the SUHID title will automatically be the nominees of Bohol for the Regional
Gawad Saka Search sponsored by the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 7 to

Bohol’s Hybrid Rice Harvest Festival shows high yield

Some 210 hectares (has.) of rice lands planted with hybrid rice (SL8, SL19, and SL 20) in the agricultural towns of Dagohoy and San Miguel, Bohol has shown good performance in this wet planting season ensuring the food security in the province of Bohol.

This came after the conduct of harvest festival and crop cut last Wednesday of planted hybrid rice in Mahayag, San Miguel hosted by the MAMAMIA Irrigators Association.

Provincial Rice Coordinator LorebienLagapa said that the yield performance has exceeded on the given target of the Advanced Rice Technology (ART) 160 hybrid rice program in the province as it yielded about 180 cavans per hectare or nine tons.

The harvest festival was attended by the visiting Irrigators Associations (IAs) presidents and farmer members namely: SANBABUE IA, Sto. Niño, San Miguel; DSMIA, Mahayag, San Miguel; and KawasanCommonal Irrigators Association, San Vicente, Dagohoy.

The activity was also attended by Provincial Agriculturist Liza M. Quirog, San Miguel Municipal Agriculturist Marcela P. Palma and some staff from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and Municipal Agricultural Office in the municipality of San Miguel.

The 75 irrigators and farmers associations in 37 agricultural towns in the province have been elated as it provides them free seeds and technical assistance in the hybrid rice production, recognition for the highest yielder by giving one unit of combined rice harvester,palay buy-back of which 10% of their yields would be bought by the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) at P20 per kilogram, and processing the Boholanop alay to come up with the “BugasniDagohoy” at a lower price of P38 per kilogram. PGBh to recognize and award best farmers and fisherfolks

The Provincial Government of Bohol(PGBh) would recognize and award the best Boholano farmers who are winners of the different categories of the Suhid sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon search on October 29, 2021 during the culmination program of the cooperative month at the Ceremonial Hall, 4th Floor, New Bohol Capitol Building, Cogon, Tagbilaran City.

Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas bared that some 25 farmers would receive cash prizes and plaques as winners of the Suhid tilt as a way of recognizing them for their great contribution to agriculture in the province of Bohol.

Pamugas said that the evaluators from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) and representatives from other government agriculture related agencies have already identified 10 winners yet as the evaluations have been continued and they are: Vicente I. Luminarias (Trinidad) as winner of the Outstanding Hybrid Yellow Corn Farmer category, Pricila V. Oreo (Ubay) – Outstanding Open Polinated Variety Corn Farmer, Josenilo C. Gara (Trinidad) – Outstanding Corn Technician, Vida L. Jumawid (Carmen) – Outstanding Cassava Farmer,

Marcela P. Palma (San Miguel)  – Outstanding Municipal Agriculturist, Gemma Bag-o (Upper La Paz, Cortes) – Outstanding Organic Agriculture Practitioner (Individual), Tultugan Organic Farmers Association c/o Benjamin Logroño (Tultugan, Calape) – Organic Agriculture Practitioner (Association), Amelia Virtudazo (LGU-Jagna) – Organic Agriculture Technician, and Dionisia Baculi (Ubay) – Outstanding Local Unit Farmer.

Other categories who have no winners yet are the Outstanding Young Farmer (Practicing Organic Farming), Outstanding 4H – Club, Outstanding Exhibitors of ART Tabo sa Bohol, Outstanding Agri-Enterprise for Crops, Outstanding Fishery Technician, Outstanding Seaweeds Producer, Outstanding Fishermen’s Association,

Outstanding Bangus Culture, Outstanding Tilapia Culture, Outstanding Rice Technician, Outstanding Yielder on Inbred Rice (ART 120) Farmer, Outstanding Highest Yielder on Hybrid Rice (ART 160) Farmer, Outstanding HVCDP Technician and Outstanding Integrated High Value Crops Farmer.

Actually he said there are 30 categories of the Suhid tilt but five of these would not be included in the search because the nominees would not reach to three which is allowable by the Commission on Audit (COA) which are the following; Outstanding Environment-Friendly Barangay (most number of fruit trees planted), Outstanding Bol-anong Siyentista on Food Processing (fruits, vegetables and fish), Outstanding Association (this will be based on our implemented programs), Outstanding Agri-Enterprise on Fishery and Outstanding Bol-anon Siyentista on Feed Formulation (Fish and Livestock).

Dr. Pamugas said that on that culmination program, the PGBh would give recognition to the individual and civic association for their unstinted support and cooperation that they have been given to any provincial government activities particularly at the agriculture department even in this time of Pandemic.
