Growth and Yield of Pechay (Brassica chinensis) Applied with Fermented Chicken Dung
Summary
The study was conducted in Brgy. Tanday, Corella, Bohol from January to February 2021. The BRM Farm is the project cooperator. The objective of the study was to examine the effectivity of the different levels of Fermented Chicken Dung to the growth and yield of Pechay. A 130 m2 area was used in this study and was divided into 4 blocks. Each block has 4 plots for the different levels of fermented chicken dung. Each plot has a dimension of 1m x 3m with an alleyway of 0.5 meters between plots and 1 meter between blocks. Treatments used were T1 – No Application, T2 – 5g/hill, T3 – 10g//hill, and T4 – 20g/hill.
The result of the study shows that among all the treatments used, T2 – 5g/hill of Fermented Chicken Dung got the highest average height having 19.09 cm, average number of leaves having 6.82, and average yield gaining 5000 grams. It was noted in the study that higher dose of Fermented Chicken Dung can burn the leaves of our leafy vegetables which resulted to lower yield of Treatment 3 and Treatment 4. However, further study needs to be conducted to validate this result.
