SANDUGO AGRI-FAIR 2019 19 towns to participate

Some nineteen Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) of the 47 municipalities and one city in the province of Bohol will participate in the SandugoAgri-Fair 2019 slated to start on Tuesday at the Bohol-Agricultural Promotion Center (B-APC), Dao, Tagbilaran City.

The MLGUs who manifested their eagerness to participate are Tagbilaran, Carmen, Calape, Talibon, Pilar, Cortes, Loboc, Sikatuna, Panglao, Dimiao, Trinidad, Balilihan, Baclayon, Batuan, Anda, Lila, Maribojoc, Jagna, and Albur.
Aside from the MLGUs, some 17 exhibitors will also participate in the product display namely:  SojiyuanAgri-development (Eskaya Tribal Group), Bio-Natural, Four Season Blenderized Food   Juices, Bohol Overseas Commercial, Agrigrowth International Corporation, Jojie’sPainitangBol-anon, YamanBukid, Buenaventura Farms, P & P Enterprises, Dalareich Chocolate House, FCB — Fl, Bohol MADe, KBOOM, A.I.M. for Progress, BANALiG, Bohol Seaweeds Farmers Cooperative, and Aldrtz Corporation.

Beaming the theme “Pangumanga may PatigayonmaoyYawesaKalamboansaatongBanikanhonLalawigangBol-anon,” the fair has been highlighted with the showcasing of the agricultural products and savoring with different contests with big prizes at stake to be conducted on Wednesday which will be the Agribusiness Day are the following: best booth – 1st prize (P8,000), 2nd (P5,000), 3rd (P3,000) and a consolation prize of P1,000 each; Imelda Papin’s Voice Alike – 1st (P2,500), 2nd (P2,000), 3rd (P1,000) and a consolation prize of 300 each; RenzVerano voice alike – 1st (P2,500), 2nd (P2,000), 3rd (P1,000), and a consolation prize of 300 each;
And for the PINAKA contests: Ampalaya – P700; Upo – P700; Eggplant – P700; Squash – P700; Jackfruit – P1, 000; Watermelon – P1,000; Banana (Carnava in Bunch) – P1,500; Camote – P700; Cassava – P700; Young Corn (open Pollinated Variety) – P700; Cacao Pods (ripe/ any variety) – P700.

Bohol drinking contest (male and female) – 1st (P1,000), 2nd (P800), 3rd (P500) and a consolation prize of P300 of each of the category; rice pounding and winnowing – 1st (P2,500), 2nd (P2,000), 3rd (P1,500) and a consolation prize of P900 each team ; coconut dehusking and grating – 1st prize (P1,000), 2nd prize (P800), 3rd prize (P500) and a consolation prize of P300 each; and Tilapia cleaning and filleting – 1st (P1,000), 2nd (P800), 3rd (P500), and a consolation prize of P300 each.

The four-day fair will start with a motorcade at 1p.m. from the jump off area at Camp Bernido – J.A. Clarin down to Old Capitol Building – CPG Avenue, Bohol Cultural Center – Bohol Wisdom School – New Capitol Site Road – Hangos St. and then all the way to B-APC Grounds.

In the opening program, Governor Arthur C. Yap will deliver the inspirational message while Vice Gov. Rene L.      Relampagos; Atty. Salvador Diputado, Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office (DA-RFO)7 Executive Director; and KOICA-Deputy Director Song Back Lee would give the messages of support as City Mayor John Geesnell L. Yap would deliver the welcome address before Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas could acknowledge the guests and participants.

After the program, Gov. Yap would lead the government officials and guests in the ribbon cutting and opening of exhibits for the SandugoAgri-Fair 2019.Immediately after the ribbon cutting, the Pinaka contest will be conducted.
On the second day of the fair will be the market matching wherein the producers and prospective buyers will meet for possible market linkages, 2 p.m. at the B-APC Conference Hall.

The Organic/Crops Day and the Fisheries Day will be on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
During the agri-fair final preparatory meeting last Friday held at the Panda Tea and Garden, Dao, Tagbilaran City, some Municipal Agricultural Officers (MAOs) and the Municipal Agriculturists (MAs) promised to participate in the fair.

Meanwhile, the SandugoAgri-Fair Flower and Garden Showcase opened last July 12, at the BAPC Grounds.The showcase considered as the startup of the Agri-fair activities showcasing variety of flowers, seedlings of fruit trees, and landscape designs from the ornamental growers/entrepreneurs, seedling propagators, and Bohol Gardeners and Landscapers Association.

In the opening program, Board Member Ricky Masamayor, Chairman, Committee on Agriculture, SangguniangPanlalawigan for and in behalf of Gov. Yap said that the provincial government would focus on agriculture.
Masamayor thanked the Boholano farmers in helping the provincial government in shaping up the agricultural landscape of Bohol.

DA-RFO7 Dir. Diputado said he is happy that the governor of Bohol was a former DA secretary.
Diputado said that Gov. Yap knows what he is talking about that’s why data are sought to troubleshoot and then effect the increase in production.

Phileos Blanco in lieu of City Mayor Yap said the city government is strongly supportive to the provincial government in all its plans and programs for development.

Roman Dabalos, Officer-In-Charge, Provincial Agricultural Technology Coordinating Office(PATCO) gave the words of welcome while Dr. Pamugas stated the statement of purpose.

The SandugoAgri-Fair is an annual event that happens every month of July as one of the major highlights of the month-long celebration of Sandugo Festival. (AtoyCosap)
