Sandugo Agri-Food Fair 2021 set in July
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Office of the
Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) has been preparing for the conduct of SandugoAgri-Food Fair 2021 in the province
to highlight the month-long celebration of the Sandugo Festival this coming July if the COVID-19 pandemic will
subside.
The SandugoAgri-Food Fair is an annual undertaking spearheaded by the PGBh through the OPA, other
stakeholders both national and local agencies, non-government organizations including the private sectors.
As tentatively set, this year’s event will be conducted at the old city airport.
The fair is a major marketing promotional activity that highlights the agri-fishery display of fresh, organic,
agricultural and processed products. It is an appropriate venue for farmer-beneficiaries and local producers to test
the marketability of their products.
Rosanna G. Lamdagan, Head-Agribusiness Division, OPA said that the fair aims to sustain the employment and
income augmentation goals through the creativity of the economic cluster by way of linking them with traders and
exporters and other institutional buyers as well.
Lamdagan added that the PGBh wants to intensify its efforts to promote integrate and encourage marketing
schemes of the farmers produce in support to agri-tourism of the province, to showcase Boholano agri-fishery based
products and services, an opportunity for market research activities, to upgrade farm technologies of the farmer to
become wise entrepreneurs, and exhibit agri-fishery products to establish marketing partners.
The fair exhibitors coming from the different Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs) will be given a
designated area and will be provided booths, tables and tents to display and promote their agri-fishery products.
The MLGU concern will assist farmers in bringing their products to the venue by providing them vehicles during
the ingress and egress periods.
The designated areas are strategic for information, sales, market linkages and other promotional outlets including
techno updates.
The OPA has proposed a budget of P350,000 for the three days fair to be used for the prizes of different contests,
catering services, tokens for the judges, honorarium for performers, among others.
The proposed contest categories for the fair are the same with the previous SandugoAgri-Food Fair such as best
booth, pinaka agri-products, literary musical contests, among others.
The administration of Gov. Art C. Yap and Vice Governor Rene L. Relampagos has been aggressive to find
ways and means of helping the agri-fishery sector especially this time of crisis that halted the livelihood of many
Boholanos. (Atoy Cosap)
