OPA conducts Annual Investment Plan workshop
In its quest to ensure that the projects, programs and activities of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) for 2019 would be attainable and in symmetry with the plans and programs of the Provincial Governement of Bohol (PGBh), the Annual Investment and Development Plan (AIDP) Workshop must be formulated.
Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M. Pamugas during the formulation of AIDP 2019 workshop last Wednesday at the Cafe Caloy, Poblacion 3, Tagbilaran City said the activity aims to make a dent in food and fishery production endeavors in the province of Bohol.
He said the seeds of ideas conceived from the division and section heads of the OPA have been germinated and nurtured during the workshop.
Pamugas said the PGBh has so many interventions that have been given to the Boholano farmers but yet we have not produced a significant accomplishment level most especially on vegetables production of which we are still dependent with the supply from Cagayan.
He bared that the PGBh through the OPA has been initiated the SUHID Sa Malampusong Mag-uumang Bol-anon, Pala-isdaan Sa Paaralan, Gulayan Sa Paaralan and the continued vegetable seeds distributions but still the production level is low.
Pamugas asked the parents, teachers and even the church leaders to help in the campaign to encourage the youth to engage in farming because of the farmers which have already an average age of 57.
All division heads and some section heads of the six divisions namely: Crops and Productivity, Fisheries, Research and Agri-Support Services (RASS), Agribusiness, Planning, Administrative had presented the formulation of operational and annual investment plans 2019 of their respective divisions.
The OPLAN of the Crops and Productivity Division include the following: pest and disease monitoring; institutional development; on-farm rice mechanization and post harvest facilities to rain fed areas; agricultural knowledge, management and promotion; extension delivery enhancement; program management; capacity development activities, and meetings/gatherings.
For Fisheries Division: marine aquaculture development; support to partnership and linkaging with development partners; capital development enhancement of gender friendly growers; climate change adaptation for a resilient tilapia growers; promotional events of gender friendly; marine aquaculture management services and climate resiliency.
And for the RASS Division, the 2019 OPLAN includes organic agriculture development program; while the Agribusiness Division is the agri-fishery promotion and marketing program; Planning Division- sustainable integrated agribusiness program and for the Administrative Division is for development or improvement program and human resource management.
The formulated AIDP for 2019 will be the basis for the provincial budget for the next years. (Atoy Cosap)
