OPA girds for Agri-Fair 2018

In a pursuit of a more meaningful and successful celebration to have a full understanding of the involved agricultural agencies, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) conducted the first agri-fair 2018 preparatory meeting last Wednesday at the Panda Tea Suites, Dao, Tagbilaran City.

According to Eleno L. Evangelista, Agri-Fair focal person, the Sandugo Agri-Fair ’18 is tentatively slated July 17-20, 2018 at the Bohol Agricultural Promotion Center (B-APC) Grounds, Dao, Tagbilaran City.

Evangelista said the four-day activity would be savored with several contests to wit: best float contest; best booth; tuba drinking; oyster shucking; mud crab catch and tie; pinaka contest on vegetables (string beans, ampalaya, okra and squash); pinaka on root crops (cassava and sweet potato); pinaka on banana (cardava in bunch); pinaka on young corn; and pimaka on fishery products (bangus and tilapia) of which the winners would receive P500 each.

This year’s celebration is expected to be more colorful. There will be float parade contest on opening day with big prizes at stake.

The OPA collated the suggested themes from the Municipal Agriculturists/Municipal Agricultural Officers (MAs/MAOs) and other stakeholders who attended the meeting.

These would be presented and selected by the Management Committee (ManCom) of the OPA to become the official theme of the fair.

The Sandugo Agri-Fair ’18 is one of the activities of the month-long celebration of the Sandugo Festival next month and also designed to recognize the efforts of the Boholano farmers who helped the PGBh in shaping up the agricultural landscape in Bohol. (Atoy Cosap)
