In the opening program last Monday, Gov. Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado in his inspirational message renewed
his promise to the agri-fishery sector that his administration has always looked at for the good of them who have
been always helping the provincial government in insuring food sufficient and security as he thanked the exhibitors
of the fair.

Gov. Aumentado said that the provincial government has so many interventions given to the farmers and
fisherfolks such as farm machinery, fishing paraphernalia, hybrid rice seeds, corn seeds and fertilizer, and
technology.

The province also launched the “Isda Program” which aims to solve the high prices of fish in the province.
The governor also stated that together with the officials of the Department of Agriculture they have been
distributing the P5,000 each to more than 25, 000 Boholano farmers of which each farmer has tilled less than two
hectares of rice farm.

Vice-Governor Dionisio Victor Balite who was not able to attend the opening program and his prepared opening
statement was read by Board Member Lucile Lagunay underscored the importance of agriculture to be strongly
supported.

The vice-gov. who is also the Sannguniang Panlalawigan Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture said that
the Boholanos can rest assured the continuous support from the provincial board members.
First District Congressman Edgar M. Chatto in his message of support said that in Congress they are drawing
measures on how to lessen and brace the impact of El Nino to the agri-fishery sector.

Cong. Chatto said that in Bohol, we have to work together to ensure that the foods are ready to feed the 1.4M
Boholanos and 1.5M tourists annually.

Chatto said that agriculture is very critical because of the climate change that would affect the health and
agriculture productivity; while Edgar del Rosario for and on behalf of Second District Congresswoman Vanessa
Aumentado and Catherine Ente in lieu of Third District Congresswoman Kristine Alexie Tutor echoed messages of
support from the two solons to the agri-fishery sector.

Regional Technical Director DA-7 Joel Elumba who represented DA Regional Director Dir. Angel C. Enriquez,
Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) 7 Regional Director Allan Poquita in their messages of support
informed everyone that their offices have not stopped in implementing plans and projects geared towards for the
betterment of the farmers and fisherfolks.

Dir. Elumba said that the successful conduct of the fair is a manifestation that the agri-fishery sector is
empowered.

He said that the distribution of P5,000 to the farmers who have tilled less than two hectares of rice field has been
continued as he informed that the plan for cloud seeding has already been approved by the DA.
Dir. Poquita on his part said that the quest for more supply or production of fish is still a challenge for all of us as
he asked the fishermen to sell their fish catch in Bohol.

He said that he is lamented after he verified that fish catch from the fisher folks in Ubay down to Getafe have
been brought to Cebu and then backed and sold in Bohol at already very high prices which are very ironic.
