DA Sec. Piñol to grace Sandugo Agri-Fair on Tues.

Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol is here on Tuesday as speaker during the opening program of the Sandugo Agri-Fair 2018 at 1pm to be held at the Island City Mall Activity Center.

Sec. Piñol’s speaking engagement at the Sandugo Agri-Fair is one of his activities to be attended this week as he also gracing the blessing of the “Fishyalan Center” in Bentig, Calape and delivering a message during the National Rice Technology Forum Launcing in San Jose, Talibon on Wednesday. Report said that before he delivers the speech, Sec. Piñol will lead the blessing of the MV Francisco Dagohoy Patrol Boat at the Tagbilaran City Tourist Port on tuesday.

The Patrol boat owned by the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR) that will come from Navotas, Metro Manila and will be Blessed in Bohol in honor of a Filipino Hero Francisco Sendrijas (Francisco Dagohoy) who was a Boholano.

Accordingly, after the blessing the MV Francisco Dagohoy will be brought to West Philippine Sea to be used by the Philippine Navy in patrolling the seas within the Philippine territory.

Governor Edgar M. Chatto at the opening program of the fair will deliver his inspirational message; while the three solons; Representative (Rep.) Rene L. Relampagos (1st District), Rep. Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado (2nd District); Rep. Arthur C. Yap (3rd District), and DA 7 Regional Director Salvador  D. Diputado will give their messages of support.

Dr. Larry M. Pamugas, Assistant Provincial Agriculturist is tasked to acknowledge the guests and participants after Board Member Abeleon R. Damalerio, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Chair Committee on Agriculture could give the welcome message.

Bringing the theme ” Produktong Bol-anon Palamboon, Malungtarong Pagpanguma ug Pagpangisda Padayunon: Kabatan-onan Angay Madasigon,” this year’s fair is unique and a more colorful because of the float parade contest with prizes  at take at the opening from jump off area at the J.A. Clarin St., Purok 4, Dao, Tagbilaran city in front of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Camp Bernido at 12:30 noon unlike from the usual motorcade.

Other contests lined-up are mud crab catch and tie, bahal drinking, pinaka, and oyster shackling.

Expected towns to participate are Tagbilaran City, Baclayon, Dauis, Panglao, Alburquerque, Lila, Dimiao, Valencia, Jagna, Duero, corella, Sikatuna, Balilihan, Cortes, Maribojoc, Antequera, Calape, Talibon, Ubay, Alicia, Pilar, Carmen, sierra-Bullones and Sagbayan.

Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Larry M, Pamugas bared that they have already created the different committees to do the ground working.

He said the Sandugo Agri-Fair is an annual affair that happens every July of each year spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) in coordination with the Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs), department of Agriculture and other line agencies, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Academe, the Non-Government Organizations, Peoples Organizations, the business sector and the civil society geared towards the enhancement of the agribusiness sector and the agribusiness climate and the promotion of agri-tourism in the province.
