Seaweed coop intensifies preps for fish enterprise
Aiming to further the knowledge and skills in implementing the fish terminal enterprise, officers of the Bohol Seaweed Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (BSFAC) went through a two-day business planning workshop which capped last Wednesday at the BSFAC Bohol Food Farm Center in barangay San Francisco, Talibon town.
Rosanna G. Lamdagan, chief-Agribusiness Division, Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) said her office handled the workshop with Helen Igot as head facilitator.
Lamdagan said different topics were being discussed by Eleno L. Evangelista who talked about the Introduction to Business Plan; Joseph Ygay delved about the Organizational Structure and Duties and Responsibilities of the coop officers; Igot discussed the Operational, Financial and Implementation Plans while the topic on Product and Marketing Plan was tackled by Maria Teresita Bernido.
The 103-strong members of the BSFAC agreed to strengthen their fish trading business aside from the seaweed business so as the cooperative could avail possible financial assistance from the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh).
The officers of BSFAC had earlier undergone business planning on seaweed business in August last year in Cebu as one of the requirements for BSFAC being one of the proponent groups endorsed by the OPA to be funded under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in Region VII.
The PGBh under the administration of Governor Edgar M. Chatto consistently supervised and provide technology and assistance to the seaweed cooperative as well as other farmer cooperatives in Bohol.
The BSFAC was also the recipient of one Bohol Food Farm Center established in San Francisco, Talibon from 3rd District Congressman Arthur Yap. Dried seaweeds from Boholano seaweed farmers bought by the BSFAC will be stocked at the food farm before it is delivered to prospective buyers outside the province. (Atoy Cosap)
