30 hectares cassava model farm launched
The Department of Agriculture Regional field Office (DA RFO) 7 in collaboration with the provincial Agriculture Technology Coordinating Office (PATCO), Office of the municipal Agriculturist (OPA), Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), LGU Trinidad and Trinidad Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TMPC) launched the 30 hectares cassava Model Farm in the Municipality of Trinidad last June 21, 2018.
To address the problem and to encourage other regions to increase cassava production yield, the DA through its National Corn Program implemented the Cassava Model Farm project starting this year and be sustained in the succeeding years.
The project shall aim the following; increase productivity yield of at least 20 metric tons (M.T) per hectares, reduce production costs through farm mechanization and to produce quality cassava tubers and planting materials.
The cluster cooperators should have an operational farm tractor and cassava chipper/granulator to be used in the model farm. Cassava planting materials (variety best adopted in the area) will be provided by the program.
