Saemaul Undong spirits adopted by Bohol farmers

Cloud seeding awaited to water farmlands

STILL DRIED-UP BAYONGAN DAM. Engr. Erwin Reños (left) of the Bureau of Soils and water Management (BSWM) and Leon Parac Jr. (center) of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) take a break at the Crops and Productivity Division OPA under division chief Gertrudes Fuentes after conducting a pre-cloud seeding assessment and site validations at the four major dams and other agricultural areas in Bohol last Tuesday and Wednesday. Assessment revealed that the experienced rains last week did not elevate water levels at Bayongan Dam in San Miguel, Malinao Dam (Pilar), Capayas Dam (Ubay), and the Talibon Dam (Talibon). Recommendations pointed out the need to conduct cloudseeding operations to save the standing crop and ensure rice planting in the next dry cropping season.

Japonica rice farmers eye good quality rice

In realizing their vision which is share agricultural Technologies,” the South Korean Government through the Korea Program on International Agriculture (KOPIA) and the Provincial Government of Bohol (PGBh) through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist  (OPA) has been conducted the series of lectures for Japonicarice farmers  in Bohol aiming at producing good quality and high yield Japonica rice. There were more than 50 farmers participated during the one –day lecture last Tuesday held at the Montesuerte Gym, Carmen, Bohol coming from Lucky Mountain Farmers Association, and Montesuerte Small Farmers and Irrigators Association in Montesuerte, Carmen, Bohol.

PDRP I – REAP Conducting Harmonized Business Planning for Regional Regular Sub-Projects

The Philippine Rural Development Project- I – REAP is conducting a harmonized Business Planning for  Regular Sub-Projects in Region 7 at  Alpha Suites, Mandaue Cebu City on August 7-10, 2018.

Mr. Jonas Luega, Municipal Agricultural Officer of Jetafe, Bohol together with officers of the fishermen’s association of Jetafe is heading the team for the province of Bohol assisted by Ms. Angeline Resquir of the Agribusiness Division of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist.

Staff from the PRDP – I – REAP, PSO Visayas are the Resource Persons and facilitators of the three (3) day workshop. The enterprise planned for the said association is centered on the production and marketing of seaweeds.

It is noted that Bohol has eight (8) on-going sub projects/enterprises situated in the municipalities of Balilihan, Loon, Calape, Jagna and Mabini of which 1 Million worth of grant was released to the said proponents.

DA-BFAR-OPA conduct preparatory meeting for DA TienDA

Focal Persons for the coming DA TienDA is conducting a preparatory meeting today, August 8, 2018 at Panda Tea Garden Suites, this city purposely to finalize all activities for the coming big days. Mr. Gery Avila, head of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Ms. Rosanna Lamdagan of the Agribusiness Division of OPA and Ms. Eugenia Mayol of BFAR will be leading the meeting.

 

Chatto reminds OPA anew on food supply

RENEWING THE CALL. Governor Edgar M. Chatto has reminded anew the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) of settling the tone of agriculture to be readied to feed the increasing numbers of populations once the new Panglao Bohol International Airport operates this year.
